Model 243-RPC Natural Gas Pressure Regulator
The Model 243-RPC natural gas pressure regulator is a pilot-operated, high-precision regulator engineered for applications requiring exceptionally accurate pressure control across wide flow ranges. Built on the rugged Model 243 platform, the 243-RPC uses a secondary pilot regulator to sense downstream pressure and modulate the main valve—delivering stable, repeatable control largely unaffected by inlet pressure fluctuations.
Designed for fixed factoring, pressure factor measurement, pressure-compensated metering, and other critical gas control applications, the Model 243-RPC provides accuracy within ±0.5% of absolute outlet pressure from minimum flow through wide-open conditions. While commonly used for natural gas service, it performs equally well with LP gas, nitrogen, air, dry CO₂, and other non-corrosive gases.

Model 243-RPC Features
Pilot-Operated Relay Design
Uses a true relay principle of operation to deliver precise outlet pressure control that remains stable across changing inlet pressures.
Exceptional Pressure Accuracy
Maintains regulation accuracy within ±0.5% (absolute outlet pressure) from minimum to maximum flow conditions.
Wide Outlet Pressure Ranges
Supports pressure ranges from inches water column through high-psi outputs, depending on pilot spring selection.
High Inlet Pressure Capability
Accommodates higher inlet pressures for upstream regulation, district stations, and industrial metering applications.
Multiple Body & Orifice Configurations
Available in threaded and flanged bodies with a wide range of orifice sizes to match system capacity requirements.
Monitor & Overpressure Protection Compatible
Designed for use in monitoring regulator sets and compatible with additional over-pressurization protection devices.
Benefits
- Ultra-Precise Pressure Control: Ideal for metering and measurement applications where even small pressure deviations affect accuracy.
- Stable Performance Across Variable Loads: Pilot operation minimizes the impact of inlet pressure changes and fluctuating flow demands.
- Improved System Reliability: Reduces downstream pressure excursions and protects sensitive equipment.
- Flexible Application Use: Suitable for commercial, industrial, and small distribution loads where pilot operation is specified.
- Long-Term Serviceability: Rugged construction and serviceable components support extended service life in demanding environments.
Capability
The Model 243-RPC regulator family supports a wide range of high-accuracy gas regulation applications.
- Application Types: Fixed factoring, pressure factor measurement, pressure-compensated metering, burners, gas engines, district regulator stations
- Gas Compatibility: Natural gas, LP gas, nitrogen, air, dry CO₂, and other non-corrosive gases
- Installation: Indoor or outdoor (not recommended for buried service)
- Pipe Sizes:
- 1¼", 1½", and 2" NPT
- 2" ANSI 125 lb flat-face flanged
- Control Options:
- External control line (243-RPC / 243-RPC-A)
- Internal control (243-RPC-B)
The 243-RPC is commonly used in monitor regulator arrangements to provide redundant pressure control and downstream protection in critical systems.
